Fencing Considerations

We have heard of disputes with neighbors in regard to fencing one's property.  Local building and planning departments also deal with complaints over fencing.  It is usually installed for privacy or safety purposes.

​Research has to be undertaken before one installs a fence.  Often they are erected taller than allowed by ordinances.   Customary codes limit fence heighths to 6 feet on the sides and in the back of the property and 42 to 48 inches high in the front.

​If you are in violation of your neighborhood or county codes,  you may be visited by a building inspector and ordered to remove the fencing.
